June 6,Day 20 Juneau The 60'sF

Today was a beary fun day.  While on a trail by Mendenhall Glacier we saw a black mama bear with 2 cubs.  I think only one of the cubs is visible in this picture but I definitely saw two.  Very cute!
While driving on the way back from a hike on Douglas Island we spotted another bear so we backed up but it ran back into the trees and looked at us.  He was big and brown and a little scruffy so we think it was a brown bear which is Alaska's grizzly.  Didn't get a picture of that one though.

That's Mendenhall Glacier behind us. We hiked that path you see behind us that led to Rainbow Falls,     a great hike and we did run into more bear scat. Maybe it came from the mama bear we saw.

  1. It looks like it's warming up a little. Beautiful, beautiiful country! Hope you had your bear spray on this hike-and glad you didn't need to use it. Two baby bears-how fabulous-I can hardly "bear" it :) safe travels and take care.
