June 4 Day 18 Sitka 52F

This is as close as we've come to a bear, and that just suites me fine! Especially since Chuck forgot the bear spray in the truck!
Right after a bear comes out of hibernation he feeds on the roots of skunk cabbage, such as this.
Then he poops it out like this.  It wasn't steaming but was very fresh.
The hike couldn't end fast enough!
After that we went to this St Michael's Orthodox Cathedral (the first Orthodox church in the Western Hemisphere) and thanked God we weren't eaten by the bear.
Hold your tail high and keep it a waggin'
Jack

  1. Wow-glad you only saw indications of a bear. Tell Chuck to keep that bear spray close! What a beautiful church. Take care and and be beary careful.
