May 30 Day 14 Wrangell 58F

To day I hiked Volunteer Park, a very boggy area, where I learned about the trees, bushes, and grasses.
We were walking around the harbor and saw this ship.  I'm not sure many of you know this but Lana's nickname for me is Jacka Boy and so naturally she thought this was an interesting name, although Jessi's nickname is really Jezabel.
We were invited by some of the locals to a crab feed.  They taught Lana and Chuck how to "shake" crab. They ate a lot of crab and brought some home for me!
After my belly was full I decided on a snooze.

May 29, Day 13 Wrangell 57F

Today we hiked the Rainbow Falls, not exactly a trail that I'm use to.  We climbed stairs throughout an old growth forest.

I got to sample the water, freezing cold, just how I like it.
This is the half way point.  I sure hope Chuck doesn't drop me.  It's a long way down.  Auntie Wanda wouldn't be too comfortable.
This is just some green stuff that was all over the place.  I did pee on a few of these.

.Day 10 and 11 Ketchikan to Wrangell 61F

Good bye Ketchikan, sad to leave such a beautiful place.
We boarded the ferry at 5:45 PM and arrived in Wrangell at 12:45AM.  Got to the Wrangell Campground at Shoemaker Bay and hit the sack at 2:30 AM.  Boy, was I tired!  Here's a view form our Camper,  It just gets better and better.
This is the beach we are camped on.  Sammy, one of my fellow travelers came down with us to the beach. Lana really likes him and feeds him table scraps so now she has to take him for walks so he loses the extra calories she puts on him.
Lana and Chuck, and Dorothy and Mike took a a jet boat ride out on the Stikine River which means "The Great River" originating in BC and continuing 400 miles to Wrangell. These icebergs will melt this summer.
Here is a video of a moose we came across on our ride.  It was a long way for her to swim.  Don't know why she wanted to get to the other side, the two sides looked the same to Lana.

May 26, Day 9. Ketchikan and the Misty Fjords

After taking this picture of the entrance to our resort Lana decided it was wash day, Monday, (old habits die hard).  She took me to the laundry to help but I, in no uncertain terms, informed her I did not want to be there---must be a "guy" thing.
Luckily, I didn't have to go with Lana and Chuck to the Misty Fjords.  As some of you can attest to, I don't particularly like boat rides.  I am a unique dog, in that respect.  Lana will have to explain these pictures to you....  Thanks Jack, I will do just that.  So, these are a few things we saw on this awe inspiring boat ride.  This is the New Eddystone Rock, the throat of a old volcano, which is 200 ft high and extends 1000 ft. to the floor of the ocean.
Here is a wall of granite in Rudyerd Bay.  We were surrounded by these stupendous walls.
While we were viewing this area a float plane landed next to us to take in the sights.
The naturalist on our boat repeatedly told us how lucky we were to view this on a sunny day.  They did not live up to their name but that was really a bonus for us.  Next, enjoy this video Chuck shot.
Ketchikan gets 14 feet, yes, feet, of rain a year and is the 4th wettest spot on earth.  So, Auntie Wanda, no forest fires here.  Good news, Auntie Wanda, you might be able to do this because I thought I saw a pig fly over our camper, either that or an eagle.  Hard to tell which.

May 25, Day 8. Ketchikan 59F

Lana, Chuck, Dorothy, and Mike had lunch at Annebelle's and then did a little shopping while I waited in the truck---I'm sure I dozed off a few times but that's a whole lot better than going shopping.  I think the guys agreed with me. The rest of the afternoon was spend walking around Ketchikan.  I'm not too sure about this 12,000 year old mammoth tusk--kind of scary.
Chuck and I with the Ketchikan River in the background.
This salmon was huge and made of glass tiles, quite spectacular!
A selfie while Chuck, Dorothy, and Mike were in the Totem Museum---I'm not much of a museum enthusiast.
A view this evening from our campsite.
Another great day!

May 25, Bonus Post

Lana's been hounding me and hounding me to post this picture of her and Dorothy.  I agreed to do it even though it not a good shot of me.  She and Dorothy think it's funny but I don't see it.  (Taken in Prince Rupert.)

May 24, Day 7. Prince Rupert to Ketchikan via ferry, 6 hrs. 57 F

Wow, last night was quite the experience.  We lined up for the ferry at 8:00 PM.  Six and a half hours later someone pounded on our door and by 3:00 AM we were all loaded onto the ferry.  Lana and Chuck said goodnight and left me in the pickup on the cargo deck.  I was all alone, but naturally, I just went back to sleep knowing they would join me at around 10:30 in the morning.  Lana took this picture coming into Ketchikan.  It was a beautiful morning and very calm seas.
After arriving, at yet another beautiful RV Resort (Clover Pass Marina), we set up, went to the dock and took this picture.  There's only so many words to describe the views.
We are surrounded by mountains and water, just unbelievable!
We had time for a short, but fun filled hike.  We hiked up to this waterfall
(Lunch Falls) and then down to the ocean where I got to wade in the ponds and even had another drink.  Because of all the tributaries the water wasn't salty.

May 23, Day 6, Hazelton to Prince Rupert, 183 miles, 14C or 57F

My time for blogging is very limited so will not be including any pictures, although I have many I would like you to see.  At some point I will post them.  We board the ferry early this morning, about 3:00 AM.   I have to stay in the pickup while Lana and Chuck are upstairs on the main level of the ferry.   That's okay though, because I love being in the pickup and I'll just sleep anyway.  They said they'll be back to get me at approximately 10:30 AM.  They'll then let me know what went on upstairs and then I can let you know.  I just hope I can hold it that long (if you know what I mean).

May 22, Day 5. Frasier Lake to Hazelton, 200 miles, 18 degrees Celsius

Another day of magnificent scenery.  I didn't know BC was so beautiful.  We arrived at our campsite in the middle of the afternoon, with plenty of time to look around.
Checked out the Skeena river and got another cold, very cold drink of water.
Like I said, beautiful scenery, and the mountains behind me weren't too bad either.
View from our campground. Nice.

May 21, Day 4. Williams Lake to Piper's Glen Resort at Fraser Lake, 235 miles.

It's another great day!  Not only did I smell the flowers I rolled in them.  Now that's really getting into enjoying the moment.  Lana kind of spoiled things by telling me they're really weeds.  But what the heck, it was fun anyway

After this awesome experience I took Lana to wake up some of the horses---there were so many but these  were my favorites.  Lana picked grass and fed them but I was too busy smelling their doo doo.

After breakfast we got in the truck and headed northwest.  After that I lost track of time because I fell asleep but Chuck and Lana said the scenery was beautiful, almost as green as Wisconsin, although
with lots of mountains.  We arrived at this place around 5:00 PM, it was kind of cloudy but the sun did peek through once in a while.  I'm hoping when I get up in the morning the sun will be shining again.  (Kind of a good impression of the bear, don't you think?)

May 20, Day 3. Osoyoos to Williams Lake

Not too far from our campsite (less than a quarter of a mile ) was the Adega winery, and as the humans say, "It's five o'clock somewhere", don't ask me why they say that when I can tell you it was exactly 10:00 AM when we stopped.  We sampled a few wines, and as you can see I was enjoying a Malbec.
Lana decided she wanted white wines, for two reasons; summer is coming up and she and Kathy won't get headaches from the white wine. Here I'm being escorted by the very attractive sommelier with the wine to our camper.
The scenery has been amazing, although I tend to sleep through most it. I did manage to pick a great spot for our picnic lunch.  The water was ice cold and very refreshing!

May 19, day 2, Osoyoos, BC

I'm so excited, I think I'm going to get my nuts back!

Drats!  Wrong kind of nuts.

Camping on beautiful Lake Osoyoos, along with a magnificent sunset.  All's well, that ends well.

May 18, Day 1, Helena to Spokane.

Heading out of Helena over McDonald Pass.
Don't let the tinted windshield fool you. It's really raining cats and dogs.  (I've never really understood that metaphor.)
Nowhere in our itinerary did it say to make a u-turn at Garrison Junction but that is what we did because someone forgot their passport, and you can take a guess at who that was. The extra 2  hours on the road wasn't so bad because this is how I spent it.
We reached our first night's destination at 5:30 PM, a Super Walmart Parking lot, where we caught up with our friends and travel companions, the McCarters.   We're spending the night here right next to a large green lawn area where I ran and played with Lana, that is, right after I did my "duty", if you know what I mean.  Later I took Chuck for a walk while Lana did a little shopping at Walmart.
